Privacy policy
This privacy policy explains how Book Vault collects, uses, and protects your information. Last updated: March 13, 2026.
1. Information we collect
- Account data: username, email, and basic profile details you provide (name, profile image, optional phone number).
- Library data: books, shelves, tags, notes, wishlists, and reading goals that you add in the app.
- Reading activity: progress, time spent, streaks, and completion history.
- Files you import: CSV/JSON exports from other apps that you choose to upload for migration.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and performance logs to improve stability.
2. How we use your information
- Provide core app features (library management, reading stats).
- Sync your library across devices when you sign in.
- Restore your data if you reinstall or change devices.
- Fix bugs and improve performance.
- Process subscriptions and trials through Google Play Billing.
3. Public visibility
Your profile, library, and wishlist are private by default. If you enable public sharing, other users can see your username and the books you choose to make visible. You can turn this off anytime in Settings.
4. Data storage
Book Vault stores your data locally on your device and in secure cloud storage when sync is enabled. We use Firebase services (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Crashlytics) to provide sign-in, backups, and diagnostics.
Cover images are cached on device after the first download to reduce repeat network usage and enable faster loading.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We only share data with service providers needed to run the app (e.g., Google/Firebase and Google Play Billing). If required by law, we may disclose information to comply with legal obligations.
6. Your choices and controls
- Update your profile and library anytime in the app.
- Control what is public in Settings.
- Request account deletion via the deletion page.
7. Security
We use standard security practices to protect your data, including secure authentication and encrypted transport. No method is 100% safe, but we continually improve protections.
8. Children’s privacy
Book Vault is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.
